Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Devins Playground ("we", "us") runs Devins Playground, a platform for AI hackathons, developer meetups, and learning, based in Miami, FL. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the site, register for an event, or participate in a hackathon, and how we use it.
Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address, and password (stored hashed by our authentication provider). If you sign in with LinkedIn or GitHub, we receive your basic profile from that provider (name, email, profile photo, and profile identifier).
Profile information. Details you choose to add, such as your phone number, services you are interested in, and team preferences.
Participation data. Team membership and invite codes, screening answers, team video links (e.g. YouTube or Google Drive), project submissions, judge scores, peer votes, attendance, certificates, and learning progress.
Partner credits. Records of sponsor credits, links, or redemption codes allocated to you or your team.
Newsletter. Your email address if you subscribe to updates.
Technical data. Standard server and security logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) and cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account and sign you in
- To run events: registration, team formation, screening, judging, rankings, and certificates
- To distribute partner credits you are eligible for
- To contact you about events you registered for and, if you subscribed, our newsletter
- To prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information.
What is public
Hackathon rankings are public. Team names, project names, and scores may appear on the public ranking page and in event recaps. Do not include personal information in team or project names you do not want shown.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that host and operate the platform on our behalf, such as our database and authentication provider (Supabase), hosting provider, email delivery provider, and the OAuth provider you choose to sign in with.
- Event partners and sponsors, only to the extent needed to fulfil partner credits or perks you receive (for example, redeeming a credit code). We do not give sponsors your contact details for marketing without your consent.
- Event staff and judges, who can see screening answers, submissions, and team information needed to evaluate projects.
- Authorities, when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Retention
We keep account and participation data while your account is active and for as long as needed to run past events' records (such as rankings and certificates). You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the CCPA/CPRA and GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email legal@devinsplayground.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, row-level database access controls, and optional two-factor authentication for administrators. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
Devins Playground is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Some events may require participants to be 18 or older.
Changes
We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or on the site.
